A letter, that included data and signatures of congress, expressed that the Colville Tribes have a need for an Indian Health Care clinic in Omak. Our news partner, iFiberone, reported that though a small office is currently used, tribal officials reported that it has inadequate amenities, needs aren't being met and the Colville Service Unit is understaffed.

The small office has such a lack of square footage, it has inhibited the Colville Tribes' ability to add and retain health care providers in Omak, according to U.S. representatives.

The letter was signed by Grant County's congressional representative, Dan Newhouse, U.S. Senator Patty Murray, U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell, Spokane Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers, the Wenatchee Valley's congressional representative Kim Schrier and western Washington congressman Denny Heck of the 10th district.

An application for a new facility was denied in 2014, however according to iFiberone, the tribe is confident this recent submission will be well received by the Indian Health Service.

The Indian Health Service is an agency within the Department of Health and Human Services and responsible for providing health services to American  Indians and Alaska Natives.
