Chelan County will attend a workshop focused on the allocation of the rural county fund on Wednesday. The rural county fund is sales tax the county receives from the state to be funneled into economic development.

"A lot of people want to draw on that," said Commissioner Doug England. "We don't want a huge balance sitting here, we want it back out into the community."

Commissioners will work through the county's five year plan, how the county wants to spend the funding and discuss how some of it is already being used at the workshop.

"We don't want to over tax that, don't over promise that, but at the same time get that money out as quickly as we can," said England.
