The Chelan-Douglas Health District announced Tuesday that it will work with Lake Chelan Health, Columbia Valley Community Health and Columbia Safety to offer the COVID-19 vaccine to children ages 5-11.

The announcement came hours after the Washington State Department of Health endorsed the CDC's authorization of the Pfizer vaccine for emergency use in children. A clinical trial of 3,100 children found the vaccine to be safe and over 90% effective in preventing COVID-19 in children.

CDHD and its partners plan to include drive-through style pop-up clinics throughout the two counties. Clinics will take place during after school hours and on weekends, with the first clinics tentatively scheduled for November 13th in Wenatchee and Chelan.

The pop-up clinic schedule will be available at cdhd.wa.gov as soon as the final dates, times and locations are confirmed.
