Douglas County Commissioner Kyle Steinburg is asking the Douglas County PUD to hold off on any rate increases until after a more accumulative and inclusive study, particularly when it comes to data centers.

The utility is proposing a rate increase of 10 percent on data centers and 20 percent on cryptocurrency operators beginning on January 1st in addition to three percent increases in Schedule 1 top tier and demand users along with Schedule 2 customers.

Steinburg is also worried about what he says is poor timing of notification of public meetings.

The next meeting will take place at the East Wenatchee office on Monday at 1:30 p.m.
