Douglas County Commissioners wrote a letter of commendation for Chelan-Douglas Horticultural Pest and Disease Board Director Will Carpenter at their meeting last week.

The three commissioners commending Carpenter for his professionalism and timely response to the apples brought by Governor Inslee to Bridgeport that were later discovered to have maggots.

All the apples were eventually accounted for and dealt with by the Pest and Disease Board.

The Board of Commissioners called Carpenter dependable, diligent, and reliable among other kind words.

The Governor has apologized for the mistake and donated to area food banks.
