Douglas County Sheriff's Deputy Bill Black and Washington State Patrol Trooper Margaret Tippins were honored with the WSP Life Saving Award for their work helping a suicidal woman.

In September, the woman had climbed out onto Odabashian Bridge and was prepared to jump.

The two law enforcement officers were able to talk the woman into coming with them, and physically able to get her off the bridge safely.
