Douglas County Fire District 5 has made 911 reflective address signs available to the community to help first responders easily identify an address in emergencies. The need for the signs was prompted after the two large fires, Road 11 and Pearl Hill fires, in 2020 that impacted the district.

"One of the biggest challenges first responders come across is not being able to easily locate an address whether its poorly labeled or not labeled at all," said Chief Tyler Caille.

The signs can be installed on mailboxes, end of driveways or private lanes. The district also is offering to help folks install the signs.

To order a reflective sign, order forms are available at the Mansfield Post Office and are $15 for single sided, $20 for double sided. Those with questions are encouraged to email DCFD5@nwi.net or call (509) 683-1114.
