The Douglas County Auditor's Office is seeking volunteers to help write 'for' and 'against' statements about a proposed one-year levy for the Waterville ambulance service.

Auditor Thad Duvall said 150-word 'for' statements and 75-word rebuttals are due August 3rd.

"The reason why we have to have these statements prepared for the voter's pamphlet is because a new law went into effect this year that every county has to provide a local voter's pamphlet for every election." explained Duvall, "So this election season is the first time that's been in effect."

Those submitting a statement must agree to have their name appear in the voter pamphlet. If no one volunteers to write the statements, the entry in the voter pamphlet will simply say "Nothing Submitted".
