Driver Has Minor Injuries, DUI Charge After Late Night Crash With Semi Being Towed
A man has minor injuries and a drunk driving charge after a late night crash with a semi that was being towed on State Route 281 near Quincy.
Troopers report 25-year-old Jesus Pazbautista was driving a mid-size car northbound on SR 281 about five miles south of Quincy when he crossed the centerline and hit a semi truck being towed by a wrecker.
Washington State Patrol Trooper John Bryant says Pazbautista is lucky to only have minor injuries in a crash with a semi.
“His neck was sore and he had some cuts on his head, so pretty fortunate,” said Bryant. “If you’re a small sedan and you hit, basically a semi being towed, you’re going to lose that every time, and that’s basically what happened.”
Pazbautista was wearing a seatbelt during the crash, which led to SR 281 being closed for about three hours late Friday into Saturday morning.
The 67-year-old driver of the wrecker was not injured.
Pazbautista was driving a 1997 Honda Accord. He was taken to Quincy Valley Hospital with minor injuries, and is charged with DUI and being the cause of the accident. Pazbautista is listed as a resident of George.
Larry Davis, the driver of the wrecker was not injured. The semi being towed sustained some damage. The car driven by Pazbautista was totaled.
