Douglas County Fire District 2 responded to Costco around 5 a.m. Thursday due to a report of a propane line in the ceiling that had been hit by a forklift driver.

According to public information officer, Kay McKellar, the forklift driver had actually hit a heater in the ceiling causing natural gas to leak. The building was evacuated and the gas was turned off. Cascade Natural Gas was notified and arrived to the scene to work with the fire departments to determine the level of combustibility.

The store was ventilated because of the natural gas smell. The ventilation was done and turned back over to the occupants by 6:57 a.m.
