The East Wenatchee City Council voted Tuesday to authorize Mayor Jerrilea Crawford to enter into a purchase and sale agreement with Three Eagle Holdings LLC for what could be the next home for the city's police department.

The two story building is located at 50 Simon Street on the corner with Rock Island Road. The roughly $4.2 million building previously housed Aging and Adult Care.

"The building is well suited for a police department." explained Crawford, "It's nice because it is in an area of town that will be helpful for emergency vehicles getting out and reaching all of our communities."

Officials still must go through the evaluation process on the building before officially buying it. It hasn't been decided which city department would move into the former police headquarters in City Hall, but the extra space would probably not make a huge difference. Crawford described things as "very tight" on campus and relief is more likely to come from a new Public Works building this year.

The city does not intend to alter any of the surrounding intersections.
