City of East Wenatchee received $1.55 million of its total awarded $3.1 million in American Rescue Plan Funding with the other $1.55 million to be available in May 2022.

The city awarded $32,000 to the YWCA and $65,000 to the Women's Resource Center. The Women's Resource Center will use its funding for the Landlord Tenant Liaison Program.

"The YWCA is the very first entity that we have funded to help them with their broken HVAC system that broke during the heat wave we had," said Trina Elmes, public information officer.

The Department of Treasury has set guidelines for how the funding is dispersed. The city made a funding application with three categories for entities to fall under, including Public Health, Economic Hardship and Revenue Loss, Premium Pay and Water, Sewer and Broadband Infrastructure.

Applications, which can be found on the city's website, will be reviewed on a monthly basis.
