East Wenatchee city council will be holding a public comment period during the Tuesday, October 15, 6 p.m. meeting on the topic of Initiative Measure No. 976 - Limits on Motor Vehicle Taxes and Fees. City councils across the state have gathered to vote in support or opposing the initiative that is considered controversial and possibly causing significant impact to public transportation funds. Initiative No. 976 will be on the November 2019 ballot.

The initiative is seeking to repeal authority to impose certain vehicle taxes, change vehicle valuation laws and limit license fees to $30 and prompted by activist Tim Eyman.

East Wenatchee has a resolution to oppose the ballot measure, however is seeking public comment before approval of the resolution. Written comments should be submitted by October 14 at 5 p.m.
