Washington's Employment Security Department released their county-by-county look at January's unemployment numbers and Eastern Washington counties were the top eight in terms of highest rates. Ferry County topped the list with 12.5 percent, though there are only 326 people unemployed in the county. Yakima County was second with 11.1 percent unemployment with nearly 14,000 people out of work or underemployed. Adams, Grant and Franklin counties all had unemployment rates in the double-digits. The counties with the best unemployment rates were King, Snohomish, Whitman and Asotin counties who were all under six percent.
