UPDATE: East Wenatchee will defer a decision on fencing restrictions on private property next to the Loop Trail until the City Attorney reviews the possible impacts to property rights. The review is expected to take until early November. East Wenatchee City Council has favored a restriction of fencing within 75 feet of the trail but has repealed the ordinance while awaiting the legal review.  Douglas County Commissioners approved an ordinance Monday that permits up to 48 inch high fencing at 10 feet off the trail's edge. The city's Community Development Director Lori Barnett said the delayed decision only affects 5 properties at present.

The decision on building and fence setbacks along an 80 acre section of the Apple Capital Recreation Loop Trail in East Wenatchee's still unsettled after a joint public hearing Monday failed to resolve competing plans. Douglas County wants to allow up to four foot fencing on the property line about 10 feet from the trail's edge. East Wenatchee favored no fencing within 75 feet of the trail. Commissioner Steve Jenkins says East Wenatchee will now revisit the issue tonight (Tuesday)

East Wenatchee Community Development Director Lori Barnett was revising the agenda to include the item at the end of tonight's East Wenatchee City Council Meeting. The council meets at 6:30pm at City Hall
