Eleven Full-time Wenatchee Valley College Employees Granted Exemptions, Six Others Gone

Of Wenatchee Valley College's full-time employees, 92% are fully vaccinated while eleven have been granted exemptions and six were terminated or retired.

Those numbers do not include part-time employees, student employees, volunteers or contractors.

Community Relations Executive Director Libby Siebens says all accommodations for employees with exemptions are temporary and must be reviewed within 60 days of being granted. If that accommodation is denied, the employee is terminated.

"This isn't an easy week for the college." stated Siebens, "This is a very difficult time and we definitely feel for all the employees and colleagues that are no longer with us at the college."

Unvaccinated employees who reported by the October 18th deadline that they wished to retain their jobs have an additional 45 days to become fully vaccinated while on leave.
