Ephrata Walmart Evacuated After Suspicious Item Found Tuesday Night

Activity is back to normal at the Ephrata Walmart after the store was evacuated Tuesday around 9 p.m. over a suspicious backpack.

According to Captain Eric Koch, police responded to a report of a suspicious package that was emitting a strange sound with an occasional illumination. Police evacuated the building and combed through video footage to identify who left behind the backpack.

A knapsack with a medical device was found and the individual that brought the backpack in was recognized by police. Police believe the person left it behind by accident.
