A 50-year-old Everett man died as part of a four-vehicle accident while driving on U.S. 2 Friday afternoon 13 miles west of Leavenworth.

State Patrol Trooper John Bryant says the man was driving a Nissan Armada westbound on the highway around 3:30 p.m.

"The driver and the only occupant lost control, struck the guardrail and went into oncoming traffic where he struck a 2012 Honda Civic. The Nissan went off the roadway and stopped on the eastbound shoulder. The Civic was then struck from behind by a Ford Explorer which had three occupants. The Explorer was then struck from behind by a Toyota 4Runner."

Bryant says it's unclear why the Armada driver crossed into traffic.

The drivers of the Civic and 4Runner were transported to Cascade Medical Center. The extent of their injuries is unknown.
