Fire Destroys Church in Soap Lake, Burns 40 Acres of Marsh Land in Moses Lake

Multiple agencies responded to a fire at a church on the 300 block of 5th Ave. in Soap Lake Saturday night.

Grant County Fire Districts 7 and 13 along with Ephrata Fire were among the emergency responders that battled the blaze for a little more than two hours before it was put around 8:30 p.m.

There were no injuries listed by either the fire departments or Soap Lake police, but they are asking people to avoid the area noting the building is unstable.

On Sunday there was a 40-acre fire in the marsh along Wheeler Road in Moses Lake.

Crews from the Moses Lake Fire Dept. and Grant County Fire District 5 responded to the blaze.

There are no known injuries or loss of structures. The cause is under investigation.
