Firefighters from Manson and Chelan, along with crews from DNR responded to a brush fire in the Washington Creek area Monday. Chelan Fire and Rescue Assistant Chief Brandon Asher says the call came in at about 2:30 and requested a 3rd alarm after seeing a visible column of smoke.

"[Crews] reported multiple vehicles; RVs, tractors, whatnot, that were burning and a brush fire that was going up the hill."

Asher says the fire consumed at least three RVs, eight automobiles, one tractor and other miscellaneous items. One dog did perish in the fire.

"It's just a good reminder that we're still in fire season. We lucked out, we caught this one at a little less than 10 acres. That's basically because the wind was helping us out."

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
