First-time Unemployment Claims Up in Washington, but Total Claims Down
First-time unemployment claims were up in Washington 10.1% for the week ending Sept. 5th compared to the previous week to 20,0006.
But in good news, it was down 6.5% overall to 531, 425 according to numbers released Thursday by the state Employment Security Department.
The ESD paid out $177.7 million for 356,680 individual claims – a decrease of $1.2 million and over 600 less individuals compared to the prior week.
Numbers for the individual counties had not been updated as of the publishing of this story.
