Friends of Leavenworth, an actively engaged Leavenworth community organization, has coordinated a candidate forum for the Leavenworth council and mayoral candidates. On Wednesday evening at 6:30 in the Cascade High School Auditorium, candidates will have the opportunity to share their insight on Leavenworth issues, answer questions and have a platform to introduce themselves to the community.

"We are a community based organization so we thought it would be helpful to have an event like this so residents that are going to be voting in just a few weeks have a chance to meet the candidates and we have some questions," said Kirvil Skinnarland, board member. "There will be a chance for people that attend to give us questions also."

This open invite forum extends to residents, business owners and community members to hear from potential council members and a future mayor on issues firsthand.

"We want to know the reasons that these candidates are running for elected office, what their priorities are and their vision for the next three or four years. We would like to know what they see as the challenges that are facing the community and some sense of their background and skills they bring to the position," said Skinnarland.

Skinnarland encourages community participation with a reminder that Friends of Leavenworth is a non-partisan organization that is not backing any particular candidate for office. The forum will be conducted in a respectful manner and is intended to be a transparent and fair discussion.
