A semi truck with a couple of tankers full of gasoline started leaking fuel when the driver pulled off after crossing the Vantage Bridge, prior to exit 136, 12 miles west of the town of George. The roadway was closed due to the fuel spill continuously leaking and for the clean up process.

"One of the external pipes ruptured and it's still leaking quite a bit of fuel onto the roadway," said Washington State Patrol Trooper John Bryant. "They're trying to stop the leak but that's not happening."

According to Bryant, a fire chief has arrived on scene and the Department of Ecology will also be at the scene eventually. The road closure has no estimated time of re-opening currently and the situation is dangerous as the fuel spill is ongoing.

"If you want to go westbound, you're going to have to exit on Highway 26 and go through 243 southbound. Unfortunately, you're going to have to go a long ways to go around or you're going to turn around and go back to George," said Trooper Bryant.
