A U.S. Senate Committee heard graphic details Wednesday in the murder case of Jill Marie Sundberg of Quincy who was found shot 11 times in December near George.

Grant County Sheriff Chief Deputy Ryan Rectenwald gave testimony before the Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee about details involving the alleged shooter Gustavo Tapia Rodriguez who was in the country illegally, had two prior felony criminal convictions and was deported in 2007.  He spoke about the troubling turn of events after Rodriguez was released from jail but skipped a second deportation hearing.

In a press release, Grant County Sheriff Tom Jones said the Sheriff’s Office continues to be great partners with federal counterparts to ensure the safety and security of Grant County residents.

The press release also included most of Chief Rectenwald's prepared Senate testimony.  Please note that some of the testimony includes disturbing details of the murder of Jill Sundberg.  Jones said the Sundberg family was aware and supportive of these details included in the testimony.
