After several years of irregular rate increases, Grant Public Utility District has regained strong financial stability and the proposed 2020 budget assumes one tenth of one percent rate revenue increase which is down from the two percent annual increases in prior years.

"Grant PUD has been working for a number of years to strengthen financial position," said Christine Pratt, public information officer.

Pratt stated along with setting targets for the entity to knock out in order to reach strong financial security, the feedback from customers was also taken into account.

"We've listened to our customers, if we do need to raise rates, they're small and predictable," said Pratt. "And over time all of our work and careful budgeting has paid off."

As the PUD presented the 2020 budget proposal, customers can see the fruits of its labor with the reduced need for electric rate increase.

"Our customers have had pretty much continuous rate increases since 2010. Now because of these measures we have in place, we are a much stronger organization than we were back in the early 2000s. We're ready to predict for the next several years, at least, no additional substantial rate increases should be necessary," said Pratt.
