Grant PUD held an outreach opportunity, an Irrigation Workshop, for the first time earlier this month. 75 folks, a variety of irrigation customers, installers of irrigation equipment and operators of irrigation equipment, attended the workshop at the Grant County Fairgrounds.

"The primary purpose for the workshop was so we could connect with our customers and we could explain processes and our roles," said Chuck Allen public affairs supervisor. "And ensuring that they receive energy to operate their equipment in a timely manner."

Grant PUD experts touched on topics like passing state inspections, bill paying options, getting pumps hooked up to power and more. Safety, future expectations and the 2020 budget were all main subjects during the workshop.

"We wanted to make sure they all understood what the requirements are if they wanted to upgrade a pump or install a new center pivot. We also had some important safety messaging for our customers," said Allen.

The workshop was also catered by Moses Lake's Michael's on the Lake and raffle prizes along with an electrical safety demonstration was available to participants. Grant PUD is hoping to make this either an annual or biennial event.
