The Greater Wenatchee Area Technology Alliance, better known as GWATA, has officially changed its name to NCW Tech Alliance.

Executive Director Jenny Rojanasthien said the new name represents the widespread region they serve, plus they found over the years that GWATA doesn't really translate to what the nonprofit does.

"Previously we served Chelan, Douglas, Grant and Okanogan counties, but with limited staff we were really only in the Wenatchee (Metropolitan Statistical Area)." explained Rojanasthien, "So we look forward to expanding those programs across all four counties, plus offering resources in Adams and Ferry County as well."

Since 1999, NCW Tech Alliance's mission has been to connect people and technology resources by promoting their three pillars of technology, entrepreneurship, and STEM education.

NCW Tech Alliance said in a statement it will continue collaborating with other technology alliances from regions across the state to look at the issues affecting their communities and how they can serve more people.
