Today  is National Heatstroke Prevention Day and safety advocates are urging parents to Look Before You Lock!  Parents who have suffered the loss of a child from vehicular heatstroke will join safety advocates to call on the U.S. Senate to enact the Helping Overcome Trauma for Children Alone in Rear Seats or HOT CARS Act legislation to be announced today.

The bill would require cars to be equipped with existing technology to alert motorists that a child is in the rear seat when the car is turned off.

Both groups say the latest statistics showing an alarming rise in vehicular heatstroke deaths so far this year compared to the first seven months of 2016.

The timing of the heatstroke awareness is perfect in North Central Washington.  Hot and dry conditions will prevail this week with temperatures expected to increase from the nineties early this week well into triple digits by  mid-week.  Friday's high temperature is forecast at 106 in Wenatchee.

Wildfire smoke will settle into the northern valley at times...especially during the overnight and morning hours. There is the potential for mountain thunderstorms by the end of the weekend.
