The Valley is full of hiking enthusiasts and two non-profit entities, Wenatchee YMCA and Chelan-Douglas CASA Program, partnered for the second year for those avid hikers to put their steps to good use with the second annual Hike for A Cause.

Hike for a Cause prompts the community to reach '5,000 steps for 5,000 kids'. The event is October 5 from 11:30-2:30 at Walla Walla Point Park and dogs are welcome on leashes.

"All of the money raised with the event will go to CASA and YMCA to support kids in our valley," said Heather Baker, CASA communications and development specialist.

Folks can run, walk or bike and there will be a costume contest, raffle and games. Prizes vary from a bluetooth speaker to four passes to the MoPop, the Museum of Pop Culture in Seattle, along with other treats.

"To register, they can go to the YMCA website or the CASA website," said Baker.

For family registration it's $20, adult registration is $10 and kids 12 and under are $5.
