Hit-and-Run Closes Hwy 26 for Five Hours

Washington State Patrol is looking for the driver of a 2000 Chevy Malibu who fled the scene of a hit-and-run on Highway 26 last Sunday night. The highway was closed overnight after what the Washington State Department of Transportation called a serious, 2-car crash at milepost 17 near Royal City. The accident closed the highway in both directions for just under five hours, reopening at 2:45 a.m. Monday morning. The Chevy Malibu crossed the center line and struck another vehicle being driven by a 15-year-old and carrying three other passengers. One of the passengers was LifeFlighted to Kadlec in the Tri-Cities while the other two went to Samaritan Hospital.
