Many locals rallied together to raise money for medical costs and shared the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society's social media post regarding Louie, a pit bull terrier mix, who had been shot three times and found by a Good Samaritan on the side of the road near Beehive and Mission Ridge in June.

In the midst of Louie's recovery, an investigation was launched regarding the owner of the dog who had shot him in what the owner stated was a euthanization attempt. After being turned over from Wenatchee Police Department to Chelan County Prosecutor's Office, it was handed off to Okanogan County Prosecuting Attorney, Arian Noma, due to conflict of interest (the owner is an employee of Chelan County Regional Justice Center).

Noma recently concluded his review of the case and announced that there will be no criminal charges against the owner. The Wenatchee Valley Humane Society had a response, that expressed disappointment, for the outcome of the case.

"I'm concerned about the message that might send out to the community at large," said Dawn Davies, executive director. "I just want to reiterate to our community that we are here if there's ever any kind of problem you need help with, including a behavior situation, an animal needing to be spade or neutered, or anything to please reach out to us first. I'm really sad about this outcome."

Louie is currently 'thriving' in his foster home, according to Davies.
