Governor Jay Inslee is indicating his vaccine mandate may soon apply more broadly to the private sector after calling the current mandate an unqualified success Thursday.

Inslee says his mandate has demonstrated the 'wisdom' of having vaccination as a job requirement.

"So I think that our success is something we need to consider about extending this into the private sector." explained Inslee, "I do hear an increasing number of voices in the private sector who, in some sense, think this is the right decision."

Inslee added that the orders maintain a healthier, safer workforce, especially after tens of thousands received the vaccine after the mandates were announced.

The deadline for state workers, school employees and healthcare workers to be completely vaccinated or have an approved exemption is next Monday, October 18th.
