A Bellevue man is in critical condition after suffering a cardiac event while on a jet ski with his wife on Lake Chelan Tuesday afternoon.

Chelan County Sheriff's Deputy Jermey Mannin stated it was about 2:20 pm when the roughly 60-year-old victim's wife noticed her husband go into a cardiac event.

Mannin said, "She and her husband, who is the unconscious male, were on a jet ski together. He went unconscious during their trip on the jet ski and fell into the water. A pontoon boat happened to be nearby, and so she waved the bystanders on the pontoon boat down to come over to help her. They loaded the patient onto the boat and started CPR."

The unconscious male was taken to Harris Marina Dock in Chelan where Deputy Danny Dunlap continued CPR until fire and aid arrived and were able to get a pulse.

Mannin said one of pontoon boat's occupants deserve praise for starting CPR when she did.

"The Chelan County Sheriff's Office would like to give a special 'Thank you' to Madeleine Vandel for her life-saving efforts, as they more than likely saved the gentleman's life," added Mannin.

The victim was transported to Central Washington Hospital where he is in critical condition in the ICU.
