Lake Wenatchee Fire and Rescue have entered into negotiations to purchase property adjacent to US 2 in an effort to improve fire and emergency services for the area. The property already has a structure in place for stationing fire apparatus as well as a recently conducted appraisal pointing to a worthy investment for LWFR.

"It's (the property) is relatively centrally located for us with areas towards Leavenworth from Cole's Corner," said Commissioner Mike Payne. "It has a garage on it we could use immediately to house a truck and possibly a water tender."

The property will most likely be financed with a short term loan from the bank, similar to how LWFR financed the property for Station 93.

The Washington Survey Rating Bureau advised the LWFR that they would not be able to further improve LWFR’s rating until the emergency response distance was decreased on the portion of the Stevens Pass corridor.
