The city of Leavenworth has chose Ana Cortez-Steiner to fill the city administrator position that Joel Walinski vacated in February. The Leavenworth City Council voted on Tuesday 4-3 in favor of the contract.

Mayor Carl Florea credits her breadth of experience as what made her stand out among other candidates in what he considered a very competitive stack of applicants.

"She was chosen because of her passion for community, her experience, she's gone through crises before so she's very familiar with what it takes to get things going again," said Mayor Florea.

According to Mayor Florea, the city will hold a social distant meet and greet the Sunday before Cortez-Steiner steps into the role on Monday, June 1.

"It'll be an outdoor event just to have an opportunity for the community to meet in a responsible way," said Mayor Florea.
