TRIP-Link works in conjunction with Link Transit to provide free transportation for rural Chelan and Douglas county residents. Users of TRIP-Link must be either 65 years or older or disabled with no other means of transportation.

"It's a fairly new service and we're trying to get the word out about it," said Cindy Abouammo from Trip-Link. "A lot of those people just don't have access to transportation and obviously they still need to go places. It's very rider friendly."

TRIP-Link is a mileage reimbursement program. Users don't have to schedule trips, they only need to designate a Good Samaritan, like a neighbor, to provide a ride. The user is then reimbursed for the mileage at the end of the month to pass on to the driver.

The funding is from Link Transit and the program is operated by a non-profit organization, TranCare.
