A property owner held two men at gunpoint early Tuesday after he reportedly caught them attempting to burglarize his shop near Mattawa.

Grant County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the 20000 block of Road 23 Southwest at around 3 a.m. after receiving a report of a burglary in progress.

The property owner says he was alerted after an alarm at the shop was triggered.

Authorities say the property owner confronted the two men and fired one round into the air before holding the pair at gunpoint until deputies arrived on scene.

Twenty-six-year-old Brandon Medina Perez and 28-year-old Luis Vasquez Marroquin, both of Mattawa, were arrested and booked into the Grant County Jail on charges of second-degree burglary and malicious mischief.

Sheriff’s officials say the two also face additional charges after it was discovered that the vehicle they had driven to the scene was stolen.
