The Mayor of George was arrested Tuesday after a woman fled his home the night before following an alleged domestic violence incident where he pointed a gun at her.

Grant County Sheriff's PIO Kyle Foreman says the daughter of the victim told law enforcement Tuesday that 68-year-old Donald Entzel had pulled a gun on her mother Monday night, and that she had been unable to contact her mother because she believed Entzel had taken her mother's phone.

"Deputies responding to the complaint went searching for her mother." said Foreman, "One deputy was searching an apartment at the George RV Park when Mr. Entzel pulled up in a pickup truck. The deputy went over to talk to Mr. Entzel and smelled the odor of intoxicants coming from the inside of Entzel's truck as well as on Entzel's breath."

After an upset Entzel refused to follow the deputy's commands, additional deputies were called in. Entzel was deescalated and safely taken into custody without incident. A pistol was also recovered from Entzel's pocket.

Deputies soon found the victim and learned from her that Entzel was extremely intoxicated during the domestic violence incident.

He was booked into the Grant County Jail on suspicion of first-degree assault (domestic violence) as well as DUI.

Entzel was elected mayor in 2019 after a coin flipped determined the election's winner.
