COVID-19 has caused a number of challenges from job loss to isolation and the impact from the pandemic has also caused mental health challenges to arise.

"Because social distancing is creating a lot of isolation, that's a real a risk factor for people who already have mental health challenges," said Dr. Christine Wineberg, Columbia Valley Community Health psychologist.

According to Dr. Wineberg, people who struggle with depression or anxiety tend to seek support in social settings. When that's unavailable, folks tend to lose that balance. The isolation also causes loved ones to miss out on the opportunity to notice warning signs of slipping mental health.

There are a number of mental health support resources available locally, please reach out if support is needed.
