Washington's minimum wage will increase to $13.50 on January 1st as part of Initiative 1433 that was passed in 2016.

The increase is applicable to workers in both agriculture and non-agricultural jobs. It does allow for 14- and 15-year-olds to be paid 85 percent of the minimum wage.

Beginning in 2021, the Department of Labor and Industries will make cost-of-living adjustments to the minimum wage each year, based on the federal Consumer Price Index.
