Mission Ridge Ski and Board Resort’s Chair 2 replacement project has begun with the completion date scheduled for the start of the upcoming 2020-2021 season. The former LiberatorExpress chair is on its way off the mountain to be replaced with a new chair in the same alignment, but upgraded.

"It'll be in the same spot and roughly the same length," said Tony Hickok, marketing director. "The biggest thing about, the most exciting thing is, the bubble chairs."

Each four person chair has a plexiglass cover that can be tugged down over the chair during inclement weather to make the ride a little more enjoyable in less than ideal conditions.

Due to the construction process, summer hiking access will be modified, especially in the resort parking lot and around the Midway Lodge that sits at mid-mountain.

"About the 22nd of May, the Forest Service removed the restriction to access to the ski area," said Hickok. "We're excited to welcome people back up to the mountain for hiking, biking and things like that. There is going to be a designated path for hiking up the mountain."
