A former Mission Ridge Ski and Board Resort employee has been charged with one count of first-degree theft after embezzling $40,000 from the ski resort in season pass refunds. Chelan County Sheriff's office launched an investigation on Mary Elizabeth Peterson, or otherwise known as Mary Nelson, in October 2019.

"What was reported was that an employee, Mary Nelson, had been fraudulently closing out season pass accounts, crediting the money toward her own accounts and then reopening the accounts so it's not to be seen or noticed by Mission Ridge," said Chief Jason Reinfeld.

Peterson (Nelson) was the manager of the ticketing department.
