Veronica Mendoza with Mission View Elementary is the State Migrant Student Advocate of the Year.

Principal Jeff Jaeger says the honor is well earned.

"She is undoubtedly the heart and soul of Mission View. She exemplifies the school to a tea. She has the servant leadership in her daily operations, reaching out to parents and anybody involved with the school."

Jaeger says Mendoza is often the first point of contact for parents with concerns.

He also called her an awesome employee.

"She's a quality individual and I think she's well respected by our parents, students and staff. I think it's a great representation of who she is and rewarding her for the work that she does."

She was nominated by Nadya Bush, the Migrant/Bilingual Coordinator.

Mendoza will be recognized during a virtual award ceremony at the Washington State Migrant Education Programs’ annual conference on August 19.
