Governor Jay Inslee may be looking to the state legislature for more action on climate change.

Inslee said the natural disasters that have befallen Washington State this past year all bear the footprint of climate change. Washington has had to overcome several climate-related challenges this year, from heat domes and drought to forest fires and flooding.

"In Washington State you can run but you can't hide from climate change." stated Inslee, "It's gonna hit you in Walla Walla, in the Methow Valley, in Forks, in Sumas. It's everywhere."

Inlsee added that the only way to attack the problem of climate change is to reduce carbon pollution. He said the state is not meeting its goals in carbon reduction, so he will ask lawmakers in January to take further action.

The Governor also noted that the state needs to find ways to make our communities more resilient to extreme weather, such as roads that are less likely to be washed out and stronger water supply and utility systems.
