Moses Lake Police Captain Mike Williams will serve as Mattawa's Interim Police Chief for the next three months after both cities entered into an interlocal agreement last week.

MLPD Chief Dave Fuhr said Williams has been a member of their senior administration for about six years and has a reputation for leadership and problem solving.

"Mattawa is down several positions right now. They are down two officers along with their chief position." stated Fuhr, "He will quickly establish a list, look at candidates and start trying to get those positions filled so he can start getting them a little bit more stabilized."

Mattawa will pay for William's salary and benefits for the next three months, while Chief Fuhr and Captain Dave Sands pick up the slack for Williams in Moses Lake.

Former Mattawa chief Joe Harris was fired April 9th. Harris is now suing both Mayor Celeya and the City of Mattawa, alleging the mayor has been trying to force Harris out of his position since taking office last December.
