Grant County Sheriff's Office K9 Chewbacca joined handler Corporal Nic Overland at the Moses Lake Dairy Queen Wednesday to accept over $2,000 for the K9 program.

PIO Kyle Foreman said staff and customers helped raise the funds by asking for change after each sale.

"So the K9 program is funded mostly through donations and some of it also falls out of the kindness of the handler's heart, but the sheriff's office can't use any of the funds to support a K9 program." explained Foreman, "The K9 programs in our community, Moses Lake and other communities that have K9s are reliant upon donations from citizens."

Chewy still found the time during the event to enjoy a vanilla ice cream cone. Foreman added that if you're compelled to donate to the program, please do, because the money will be put to good use.
