The Nason Fire at Lake Wenatchee is getting more well known after smoke from the fire became visible in the Leavenworth area Wednesday afternoon.

Robin DeMario with the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest says the U.S Forest Service is managing the fire, which is on steep terrain.

"We have about 30 personnel assigned to it today, and we have requested helicopters if they become available," DeMario.

It's currently burning about 60 acres on Nason Ridge.

Smoke visible in the Leavenworth area was reported by KPQ listeners Wednesday.

Lake Wenatchee Fire and Rescue said ash had been falling on homes along the south shore as the fire iwas growing on the west end of Nason Ridge, above Rainy Pass.

Fire and Rescue said the blaze is still seven miles from homes along the lake.
