Get off your phones and get outside. Be with family and interact with others. That's the goal of the National Day of Unplugging which begins at sundown Friday, March 3rd. Amanda Fisher with Lake Wenatchee State Park says you can visit their trails and you will see some natural beauty.

"We're getting an early taste of animal life starting to come out of hibernation. We've been seeing lots and lots of birds around here recently, lots of juvenile eagles, lots of juncos, little swallows, and geese if you like ugly birds like I do."

Fisher says getting outside is so good for you.

"It's beneficial to your health for one. I know a lot people get cabin fever during the winter time especially if you don't enjoy being outside in the cold elements. It boosts your energy level. It gives you a little burst of enthusiasm for life mostly when you're blasted with the cold air."

Fisher says it's also a great way to get to know more about Chelan County and North Central Washington and why so many people fall in love with this area.

The park still has cross-country ski and snowshoeing trails open as well as beach and sightseeing options if you want to unplug.
