The National Weather Service recently revealed the upcoming fall and winter forecast for the Wenatchee Valley area to KPQ News radio.

The Valley has been chillier than usual the last two weeks and signifies that Wenatchee is on the cusp of fall. Meteorologist Jeremy Wolf shared the latest outlook from the Climate Prediction Center on how this upcoming month of October is going to unfold.

"The Climate Prediction Center are favoring elevated odds that October will be wetter than normal. It looks like the wet pattern we've been in is going to continue as we head into next month," said Wolf.

That being said, the degree of intensity of rain should diminish in October, but will remain in an unsettled weather pattern. As for preparing for temperature, next week it may be best to tote a jacket to work.

"Right now there's a little more uncertainty for, at least next month, how the temperatures are going to pan out," said Wolf. "Right now, the outlooks are calling for slightly elevated odds to be warmer than normal. It looks like toward the end of next week, the end of September, we'll see a fairly cold air mask come through with temperatures well below normal."

Normally, the end of September brings highs in the lower 70s, but next week is calling for possibly only reaching the upper 50s for highs.

As for the winter months, there's currently no concrete data to reveal how the winter will turn out in terms of snowfall and temperatures.

"I would just expect a typical winter with storms moving in from time to time, bringing rounds of rain and snow," said Wolf.
