Firefighters are battling three fast-moving wildfires in eastern Washington that have destroyed homes and forced hundreds of residents to flee.  The blazes in the Spokane region erupted Sunday afternoon, sending families rushing to pile pets and keepsakes into vehicles and hit the road.  The Spokane Spokesman-Review reported click for details that homes burned in the Beacon Hill area of Spokane, in wheat country near Spangle and the Hart Fire north of Davenport in nearby Lincoln County.

But the extent of the losses and number of evacuees was unclear as firefighters worked through the night and into Monday morning. No injuries have been reported.  Together the three blazes scorched nearly seven square miles of terrain and sent plumes of smoke billowing over the region.

State fire assistance has been mobilized under the Washington State Fire Services Resource Mobilization Plan in support of local firefighters working to contain the Hart Fire located in Lincoln County, 9 miles north of Davenport. Washington State Patrol Chief John Batiste authorized the mobilization of state firefighting resources on Sunday afternoon at the request of Lincoln County Fire officials.

The fires started on Sunday and the cause is currently under investigation.  The Hart Fire is estimated at 1600+ acres and growing.  The fire is threatening homes and timber. It is unknown if evacuation orders have been established.
